I have worked with the Clifton Partnership in Rotherham for the last three years as the illustrator on their 'Harry Potter' project, with children in their last term of Year 6. The sessions involved showing the children recent published work and talking about life as an illustrator. The sessions then moved on to how they can draw their own versions of the Harry Potter characters, with their own unique characteristics. Techniques demonstrated included creating and using 'thumb nails', drawing with blue pencil, proportions of a 'human' face, character characteristics and 'inking' the drawing with black lines.
