| 'Drawn to the City' an exhibition of direct wall drawings at the WHITEWALL Milton Keynes Contemporary 2006/7 | I
was commissioned to document a week in the life of the Uk's most notorious
and successful shopping centre...Milton Keynes. As artist in residence
I redrew my sketches big directly onto the wall with watercolour and
marker pens. Hoards of Christmas shoppers passed on by. My
sketch book observations told of my return to the city where I lived
and grew up in for 25 years, of the people that now lived there and
of the architecture and green spaces that surround the consumer emporium.
One of the biggest thrills of this project was hearing peoples verbal
responses behind my back, to seeing work being created live on the wall. |
