Belle
Vue & Agbrigg
Banner Project | 2010
A
community banner project based on 'what this area means to
you'. I was commissioned to design and illustrate a series
of permanant street banners near and around the area I live (pure
coincidence). The first 13 banners appeared in July 2009 along
Agbrigg Road and are to be joined in March 2010 by a
further 12, which will connect the Agbrigg and Belle Vue areas
of Wakefield along the Doncaster Road.
There
are many reasons for this project but for me as the Artist, it
was to draw attention to areas that I have walked reguarly around
and through for the last ten years. Mostly in a hurry, sometimes
for comic strips and my personal drawing work, you can easily
forget how special some of these urban spaces are.
